Korcula: Modernity, style and architecture

Korcula city clearly exudes the flawless intricacies employed in designing the constructions on the basis of medieval planning. The very foundation of this city was already chalked out in the thirteenth century, taking into consideration the geographical and historical settlements. With the rational settlement in mind, the city was divided into two sectors, the eastern and the western one. The narrow streets of the city resemble the shape of a fishbone.

Korcula city hall, the cathedral, abbatial treasury and the museum are the famous architectural monuments of the island. Ceramics, silver and porcelain objects, gold stitched items and embellished art work have been the famous domains of korcula. Korcula city is also famous for the world renowned paintings and furniture, produced after the commencement of the renaissance period.
